Goldstander in the UK
Seeing RED Winches online wasn't enough; we had to see the magic in person. We hopped across the pond for a factory tour to witness their UK production firsthand. A highlight of the trip was stopping in to see our friends at A C Price, where Floor, Kris, Chris, and Nate gave the Goldstander team a warm welcome.
North Yorkshire greeted us with its signature moody weather, but the breathtaking landscapes and a great stay at the Marton Arms kept our spirits high. Moving south to the Somerset border, we toured RED Winches’ Chard headquarters. Their facilities are world-class, and the products they’re currently engineering are nothing short of impressive.

Visiting RED Winches
At RED Winches, we were treated to the full experience with a grand tour from the entire team. We got a behind-the-scenes look at everything, starting in the design studio before heading into their massive manufacturing facility. It’s a serious operation; they’re a Tier 1 supplier doing high-level work for big names like INEOS, JLR, and various military vehicle builders.
Nate, who handles our design work, was absolutely in his element seeing the engineering precision up close! We also spent a good chunk of time in the testing area. RED Winches doesn't play around when it comes to quality; seeing how rigorously they put every product through its paces was eye-opening. To top it all off, we got a live look at the Hornet Quad in action, honestly, mind blown.
Meeting The King Cobra
We spent the rest of our time exploring their full range of recovery equipment, focusing specifically on what works best for our customers in the Unimog world. It’s clear that the force multipliers are going to be a solid staple in our lineup moving forward.
We were also lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the highly anticipated Tiger. It’s launching soon and is bound to be a massive hit in the USA; it’s the perfect winch for Ultra4 and side-by-side vehicles, though it’ll be just as home on a standard 4x4.
After a jam-packed morning, we took a breather for lunch at a great country pub before heading back to the factory to play with the King Cobra. This winch is so unique it probably needs its own dedicated article! It’s packed with innovation, but the full drum disconnect is the real game-changer. Once you’ve experienced a winch with that feature, there’s honestly no going back.
End of a great trip
To wrap things up, we didn’t leave empty-handed! We placed a substantial order to get our very first stock of winches shipped over to the US and to Goldstander Netherlands.
This is just the beginning of the journey with these products. Once we’ve had some proper time to put them to work in the field, we’ll be doing a full deep dive to show you exactly what they can do. Stay tuned—it’s going to be worth the wait!
